Friendship

Broadly translated as “we enjoy life by the help and society of others” the founders knew that it was futile to go at it alone. This cardinal principle gets to the heart of the meaning of life. As the fraternity for life Phi Delts enjoy a number of brotherhood and bonding events in undergraduate as well as alumni life.

Phi Delt places a firm emphasis on education. Not only is the fraternity the closest to the library of any greek house on campus, it also boasts dedicated study spaces throughout the house and in each room. Combine that with a dry housing policy and it is no wonder the Phi Delt always beats the all men’s average GPA.

Phi Delt is committed to the cultivation of a high level of both spiritual hardiness and personal integrity in all of its members. Many find guidance from religious texts and others from arduous physical conditioning. There are many roads to moral rectitude and you are sure to find yours here.

Phi Delta Theta was founded nationally in 1848 and the Oregon State chapter received its charter in 1928. The local chapter has produced successful alumni not limited to an Admiral, a Highsmen trophy winner, an NFL coach, and a governor of the state of Oregon. National alumni include Neil Armstrong, Frank Lloyd Wright, president Benjamin Harrison, Lou Gehrig, and Burt Reynolds
