Iron Phi
Each year Phi Delts from across the nation participate in the “Iron Phi” program in memory of brother Lou Gehrig to raise awareness for ALS. This program gives Brothers the opportunity to become an “Iron Phi” by selecting an athletic endeavor, collaborating with their chapter members (and/or alumni) to raise $1,000, and then accomplishing the athletic endeavor.
Be the Match
Phi Delt involvement with Be The Match began when Matt Fettig was tragically diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and through Be The Match received a life saving bone marrow transplant. Filled with gratitude his younger brother Blair started a chapter at Oregon State that went on to become the largest supplier of bone marrow donors of any chapter of Be the Match in 2012. Upon Blair’s graduation their younger cousin Chase (1815) would take over as president of the chapter until he too graduated. Notable Phi Delt donors include Sean Mcfadden, Evan Mcfadden, and Nick Steel all of whom saved a life with their donations.
